What to do if you were auto-assessed

SARS completes some returns for you. If the figures are right, you can accept the assessment. If something is missing or wrong, for example a medical or retirement annuity claim, file your own return before the deadline.

If you are late

If you file after the closing date, SARS can charge administrative penalties, and they increase monthly.

Get ready

Gather your IRP5 or IT3(a) certificates, medical and retirement annuity certificates, donation receipts and your logbook. See our pages on medical credits, retirement annuities and keeping slips.
